Back to School Night – Online Version Contents: Cambridge IGSCE English Creative Writing Cambridge IGSCE English Welcome to the Cambridge IGSCE English course at MAST Academy. In this course we will further develop your communication skills in writing and speech while learning about the natural world around MAST as well. I believe that what happens in this classroom will affect your future, so your time with me will be well spent. Syllabus highlights Grading Portfolio assessment: grade weighs heavily on best piece selected per quarter. Pass / fail assignments Extra credit will be connected to portfolio timeliness and improvement. Test / quiz replacement Redos and late work are graded at the instructor’s discretion. Late penalty: 1 letter grade lower per day late. MAST places heavy emphasis on reading books in English classes. Therefore: A student who earns at least a D on a regular deadline, makeup or late reading assessment will have the opportunity to excuse the grade with an alternative assessment about the text like an analytical essay. A student who fails all three reading assessments for a book cannot excuse those tests and cannot earn an A for the quarter / can earn a maximum of a B for the quarter. A student who fails 6 reading assessments for two separate books in a quarter cannot excuse those tests and cannot earn an B for the quarter / can earn a maximum of a C for the quarter.
