Values Matter Miami Poster Contest "Celebrating a Decade of Making Values Matter."
Miami-Dade County Public Schools is celebrating ten years of Values Matter Miami. In celebration of this milestone, the Division of Student Services sponsored a Values Matter Miami Student Poster Contest at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. The theme for the poster contest was "Celebrating a Decade of Making Values Matter." Hundreds of students in our District participated in the Values Matter Miami Poster Contest. We are happy to announce and congratulate the winner and finalists of the poster contest. The winning poster design is now part of the Values Matter Miami tenth anniversary logo. Attached you will find the logo with the winning design that schools are encouraged to use to promote Values Matter Miami throughout the school year. Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibition "Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together."
The district is proud to host this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibition. 2024 theme: "Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together." Over Fifty 2-D and low-relief artworks celebrating Hispanic culture and tradition are selected for installation in the auditorium gallery of the School Board Administration Building. School Board Members, community dignitaries, and thousands of visitors view this high-profile exhibition. 2024 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge
I am thrilled to announce that two of our very own students, Thai Durham and Sophie Smith, have been named in the Top 300 Junior Innovators in the 2024 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (JIC), a prestigious program of the Society for Science. This recognition places Thai and Sophie among an elite group of 300 middle school science and engineering projects selected from a pool of 1,862 entrants across the United States—a truly remarkable achievement! A special thank you goes to Ms. Ervin for her outstanding mentorship and guidance throughout their journey. Her support undoubtedly played a crucial role in their success. Silver Knights Award
Wednesday night was one for the books at the Miami Herald's Silver Knight Award Ceremony. Every spring, the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald celebrate the achievements and community service of the finest high school seniors by presenting the Silver Knight Awards. These individuals are celebrated and recognized for their leadership potential. This year, MAST Academy has a finalist in all 15 categories! Our 15 Silver Knight Finalists represented our school with excellence. Out of 865 students across three counties, MAST Academy received Honorable Mention in four categories! South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association Girls Championship
Please join me in congratulating our Sailing Club on their performance at the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association Girls Championship. Makos Sailors Minx Anthony and Andrea Bolz took home the first-place trophy for the Double Handed Distance Race Championship. The Trophy will be on display in our school for the entire year!
