Black Student Association (formerly Black Student Union) is a club that welcomes all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, or other cultural identities and strives to promote diversity, increase awareness, and provide service to members and the community.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Black Student Association is to encourage diversity, inclusion, positivity, and cultural awareness!
Vision Statement:
The Black Student Association envisions a school culture that is positive and safe for all students and permits the expression of culture.
Goals:
- We are committed to building awareness of issues related to students of color and their collective cultures/history.
- We strive to foster an inclusive and appreciative environment for students from all backgrounds.
- We celebrate the African diaspora and the diverse representation of Black culture worldwide.
Activities:
- Social Justice and Sandwiches - takes place every second Wednesday of the month. Members have discussions and engage in creative activities with themes of relevant events and phenomena affecting people of color. Faculty and staff are welcome to attend!
- Annual Black History Month celebration - We invite several notable guest speakers to discuss a relevant theme in current events.
- Community Service - BSA commits to a community service project each year that serves students in underserved communities.
