MAST Buddies High School & Middle School

Requirements to be a Mentor:
-10th, 11th, or 12th grader in high school; ready to help others with whatever they may need, with a positive attitude!

Requirements to be a Mentee:
-Middle Schooler (6th-8th grade), or a 9th grader

Club Mission:
MAST is a community; as such, the responsibility to introduce new students into the fold is not just that of the staff, but of everyone. Some may view the start of a new school, as a challenge, or even thrilling, however, the common emotion is fear. Children starting 6th grade have just left the comfort and security of their elementary schools, in which every activity was controlled and actions monitored. A mere 2 1/2 months later, they are thrust in the independent world of MAST Academy. This change can be traumatic for some children, and paralyzing for others. The mental wellness of these blossoming adolescents is just as imperative as the intellectual strength and physical education they are expected to receive; however, they are NOT alone. Along with the staff, these new enrollees would have the support and guidance from their fellow classmates, and more so, from their experienced upperclassmen. MAST Buddies is compromised of high school students dedicated to promoting positivity and aiding new students in acclimating to their environment. The program would help navigate the vigorous waters of transitioning into a high school environment and help guide these students in fulfilling their academic goals and aspirations. By being their mentor, we will guide and assist them in any way we can.
