In 2012, Superintendent Carvahalo announced an ambitious program to become a carbon neutral school district. Check out his interview and the sustainability program officer's Powerpoint highlighting $16 million in savings to the district and $400K of rebates back to the schools.
Congratulations to MAST for urging our district to revive this 2012 program. During a May 2018, twitter town hall, the Superintendent acknowledged that the rebate program will resume this year. Now, MAST will get back $.75 for every energy dollar saved. Additionally, MAST will pilot a program on waste diversion. The District has agreed to reimburse MAST on any savings related to reducing our dumpster size by reducing dumpster waste volume . Our kids are being the change they want to see in the world...amazing! |
